What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that is spread through coughs, sneezes and close contact with people who have the virus. Symptoms can include a high temperature or shivering, a new continuous cough, a sore throat, and a loss or change in sense of smell or taste.

Most people have mild symptoms and recover quickly, but some people can become severely ill. Occasionally, symptoms can persist and develop into a condition called “Long COVID”.

Those most at risk of severe illness are older people, those with a weakened immune system and those with certain underlying health conditions.

The Collins COVID-19 Vaccination Service is a private service for adults and children aged 12 years and over^. Please note that this is not an NHS service.

The vaccination helps protect against catching COVID-19 and passing it on to others.

This service isn’t suitable for anyone who has had:

  • a COVID-19 vaccination within the last 3 months
  • an allergic reaction to any injections or vaccinations in the past

This isn’t a complete list and suitability will be checked before the vaccination is given.

ome people may be eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 free of charge on the NHS (or HSC in Northern Ireland).

Some Boots stores in England and Northern Ireland offer the free NHS (or HSC) service at certain times of the year.

Please wait until you’ve recovered as we cannot vaccinate anyone who currently has COVID-19 or who has had it within the last two weeks.

To enable us to give you the best and most appropriate care and advice, we collect your personal data such as name, address and date of birth, we also collect your more sensitive personal data regarding your health for the purposes of ensuring the service we provide is appropriate for you.

We may also process your personal data for carefully considered and specific purposes which are in our interest and enable us to enhance the services we provide, but which we believe also benefit our customers. Your personal data will be stored for as long as necessary unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

We may share your personal information across Collins services such as Collins Pharmacy and with other companies that provide services on our behalf but we assure you that Collins will never sell your personal data. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and keeping your personal data safe and secure is our top priority.
