COSCO Shipping and PetroChina are returning to CSSC-affiliated Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for two additional 174,000 cu m liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuilds.
The ships will be built for joint venture firm United Liquefied Gas Shipping and delivered in 2025 and 2026.
The carriers, that will serve the trade needs of PetroChina and its subsidiaries, come with a price tag of $245m each, according to Maersk Broker.
Previously, the Shanghai-based yard had won orders from the joint venture in 2020 and 2021 for three LNG ships each.
