The United States exported more LNG than any other country in the first half of 2023, according to data from CEDIGAZ.
US LNG exports averaged 11.6bn cu ft per day during this period, 4% more than in the same period last year, allowing the US to leapfrog past Australia and Qatar in global exports.
A majority – 67% – of the American gas exports headed across the Atlantic to European Union countries and the UK, a region that has weened itself off pipelined Russian gas in the year and a half since war in Ukraine started.
