Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) and GAIL (India) Limited have signed a term sheet to jointly build a 500,000 liter per day ethanol plant in Gujarat, plans for which were first announced in 2021. The facility will use corn and broken rice as feedstock, producing 135,000 metric tons of animal feed and 16,500 tons of corn oil as co-products. The final feasibility study is currently under development by a third party. The facility is likely to be located in a corn-producing region of the state.
